Have you always wanted to learn IRISH?
Well, now you can! Check out these sites for books, teachers, organizations and online courses and lists that can help you learn.
http://www.monmouth.com/~daltai/ This is a super site with lots of good phrases and a pronunciation key. It also lists locations for lessons. Immersion weekends are listed too. This is a favourite of ours! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ This is an online listserv which is very supportive of beginners and advanced students. It has daily postings from members and a very patient listowner! Lucht Foghlamtha na Gaeilge<gaeilge-b@LISTSERV.HEANET.IE> ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ This site has a pronunciation key as well, and lots of technical linguistic and historical information about the language. Also has some CDs for sale. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I don't think any of the following sites have sound but they are included here because they may have useful links.
http://www.lincolnu.edu/~focal/ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ This is a resource page and has lots of links on it. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The Irish People: Learning Irish http://www.inac.org/IrishPeople/gaelic/ No sound, but many lessons with a phonetic spelling included. Fairly easy to follow for studying alone. Now if only it had sound..... ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ For a great set of books and tapes for learning on your own you might want to try BUNTUS CAINTE
