Spirituality

Here at The Rose of Sharon we are emphasizing books and items that will foster and enhance the spirituality of Christians in their hearts, homes, and families.

The Christian Church has many rich traditions of prayer forms and spiritual practices.  The spirit of various holy men and women who have followed Christ has led some to embrace and emphasize this or that form of spirituality, which is, simply put, a way of living the Gospel life.

Christian spirituality is vast, and particular forms emphasize particular charisms or gifts to use for the good of one's own soul, and of course as service to others.  Each gift builds up the Body of Christ.  Together all these paths which help one walk with Christ offer the individual Christian a wide range of choices from which she or he might choose to help live the Gospel. 

We carry books about the many monastic forms which evolved from the original Desert Fathers and Mothers, such as preserved by the Orthodox, and lived in the West within Celtic Christian, Benedictine, Carmelite,     Franciscan,   Dominican ways of life.  These ancient traditions have been with us since the early Church, or the middle ages, and have supported millions of Christians through the centuries.  We also have  the spirituality of the Reformers, and the contemporary Taize and Charismatic forms.  Additionally we are building a selection of African-American Christian spirituality as well as theology and pastoral care. Books to teach and prayer books to support each of these expressions of spirituality.

Additionally, we are building a section for the spirituality of animal care, for those who may be interested. 

Our selection is growing and if we do not have what you would like, please feel free to tell us so we can carry what will help you.

We are in the process of building our RECOVERY spirituality section  and are happy to order what you may want and learn from  you what is best to carry here in the shop.

Spirituali-TEA  is our weekly segment on our Rose of Sharon Live Radio Show, and has as its focus the spirituality that inspires individuals, and families in daily life.
